“Day 3 started with a brisk morning of breakfast and packing up our hotel rooms.

We visited Government House - the home of the Governor General and are headed to our final destination - The Arboretum.

We are tired but excited to head home after a truly wonderful Canberra experience.”

Lots of extra photos have come through from last night’s Questacon visit too! Head to our Facebook page for all the pics 📸

“What an amazing (and chilly) day we have had on Day 2 of our Canberra experience. We had a wonderful breakfast, before heading to the Australian War Memorial.
We learnt a lot about different aspects of the wars, even visiting the memorial statues on Anzac Parade.

Then we were off to the National Electoral Commission and the Museum of Australian Democracy, before arriving at New Parliament House.

We travelled to Mount Ainslie for a night view of Canberra and we are now having dinner at Questacon, ready for an exciting evening of science and engineering fun.

Another exciting and action packed day in our nation’s capital.”

LOTS of photos came in today, head to our Facebook page for all the pics! 📸
BIG DISCO 🪩💃🕺 Despite the very chilly wea BIG DISCO 🪩💃🕺 Despite the very chilly weather last Friday, we had a great turnout for our Big Disco! Dancing the night away, our SJF students warmed up quickly, enjoying their favourite tunes with their friends! Everyone was excited to participate in some of our Big Arvo activities after missing out on that event earlier in the year with the wet weather, including the popular chocolate toss, balloon making, temporary tattoos and coloured hair spray. It’s safe to say the students had an absolute blast!

A massive thank you to our PEC and parent volunteers making this such a FUNtastic event!

After lunch, we visited the National Film and Sound Archive, and then the Royal Australian Mint.

Now off to the hotel for dinner and the Dinosaur Museum!

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is held every y National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is held every year from 27 May to 3 June, this is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.

Bridging Now to Next urges us to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

SORRY DAY & RECONCILIATION WEEK ASSEMBLY 🖤💛❤️ This morning, we celebrated National Reconciliation Week and acknowledged Sorry Day with a heartfelt assembly presented by our students.

Today, the 26th of May is Sorry Day. This important day brings attention to the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families due to past government policies.

Following Sorry Day, we observe National Reconciliation Week (27th May - 3rd June) which recognises Australia's ongoing journey towards reconciliation and explores ways we can move forward as a united nation. This week commemorates significant milestones, including the 1967 referendum on May 27th and Mabo Day on June 3rd.

This year's theme for National Reconciliation Week is 'Bridging Now to Next,' marking 25 years since the Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk and honouring the Stolen Generations.

To help our students understand the significance and importance of reconciliation, each Stage has received a leaf template to complete. These leaves will then be placed on the tree in the hall to commemorate National Reconciliation Week.

We are building Eileen O’Connor Catholic School, a purpose-built K–12 campus in Tuggerah, designed to provide specialist, faith-based education for students with moderate cognitive disability, autism and/or complex learning needs. This is more than a construction project. It’s a shared mission to create a school where every child is seen, known, and supported to thrive and be fully embraced and understood. Accepted for who they are and the great gifts they offer our community.

The Tuggerah campus will become the base school of Eileen O’Connor Catholic School. It will offer:
• Specialist classrooms
• Small class sizes with expert staff
• Seamless pathways from early learning to post-school transitions
• Integration with the wider Central Coast school precinct
• A place built with Catholic values at its core

This $65 million project is being funded by Catholic Schools Broken Bay, with support from government grants, and from community and corporate partners who believe in what this school means to our community.

How You Can Help
To make this vision a reality, we are inviting the community to get involved through:
• Donations and major gifts
• Business or corporate sponsorships
• Keeping connected in the progress of the school
• Most importantly, by helping us share this story

Every contribution — big or small — is a brick in the foundation of something truly special.
